Holiday designs - the 2008 collection

That’s right, it may only be July, but I’ve been working hard on the holiday 2008 collection and it will be ready to launch on both our site and the photoaffections.com website in late August. In fact, the designs are pretty much ready, we just have to get them all filed for copyright and prep the website for the official launch. Keep your eyes peeled. I recently received the new Restoration Hardward baby & child magazine and was immediately smitten with their new kid’s line.

So much so, that I just HAD to have the pink/brown polka dotted girl’s bathroom and somehow even convinced my hubby into letting me re-do their current rubber ducky scheme to this much more sophisticated, yet classic, look. That night, I sat down to create some new designs for my birth announcement line and I guess you could say the pink/blue & brown combo was still on my mind…

Ok moms, how many times have you run into another mom with kids and you want to set up a playdate, only finding a pen, paper, and the time to write out all your information is a complete burden. Well, I have a very easy and adorable solution for you; the mommy card. I recently handed out one of my mommy cards to a friend, and was surprised that she had never seen one before. I have been offering them on my site going on two years, but I’m not sure everyone knows what they are, so let me take a minute to explain them a little more in detail. A mommy card is essentially a business card for moms. Being a mom is a tough job and we deserve our very own “business” cards to hand out to other business associates (aka, other moms). The card features photos of your children with your name and their names, along with your personal information, such as your home phone, cell phone and email address. They are perfect for handing out to your girlfriends or other moms so that they have all your info in one place. They are also great to give to the professionals in our lives that deal with us on a regular basis such as daycare providers, pediatricians, babysitters etc.

I suppose I should start my very first post with a description and a hello! My name is Amber Gatej and I am the owner and designer for thencomesmarriage.com and inababycarriage.com. I went into business back in 2002 and am so proud that it is still going strong today, thanks to the continued support of my customers. It means a lot to me that I am able to follow my passion of design and yet still continue to work from home and maintain a good balance between family and work. It is because of the support of my wonderful husband that I was able to ever get my business off the ground. I am “mom” to two sweet little girls, ages 3 1/2 and 15 months. Through the years, my business and product line have grown tremendously. With the redesign of my website, I wanted a fresh look with a navigation that made it easier to find all the products on my site. One of the main changes is including a more clear description between the press printed products that are sold on my site and the photocard style that is sold through photoaffections.com. I partnered with Photo Affections in 2006 in order to give my customers the best photocards available on the market through a printer who works exclusively with the inababycarriage line. Now that I’ve taken the time to redesign my entire website, I thought, what better time to add a blog? I hope that with the new site, my customers (and potential customers) can easily browse through all the products and designs to make it easier to find the one that matches their style perfectly. In the upcoming months, I will have many new features/additions to the site, so keep visiting to see what’s new with inababycarriage.com!
